In an agile approach, the team is self-organizing and empowered to make decisions. The product owner should not be defining sprint backlog items that cannot be delivered within the agreed sprint duration. Instead, the team should work together to define the sprint backlog items based on the product backlog items prioritized by the product owner. If the increments do not meet the acceptance criteria, the team should work with the product owner to understand the criteria and ensure they are met in future sprints. The servant leader's role is to facilitate this process and help the team become more effective.
