Apple Learning specifies that when Managed Lost Mode is activated via MDM, the iPad is immediately locked and displays a custom message defined by IT, such as contact details for return.
Importantly, Lost Mode does not require the user to have enabled Find My; MDM can enable location tracking temporarily to assist recovery. FileVault is a macOS-only disk encryption feature, not available on iPad. Recovery Lock is designed for Apple silicon Macs to protect Recovery mode, not iPad.
